1896 Athens Summer Olympics Participation Medal. Silvered bronze creation by Nikephoros Lytras was created for the first Modern Games. Design features seated Nike holding laurel wreath, phoenix rising out of flames, Acropolis in background on obverse, and five-line Greek legend in laurel wreath on verso.
