    Description

Early 1970's DeWayne "Tiny" Lund Race Worn Driver's Suit. The 1963 winner of the Daytona 500 was jokingly nicknamed "Tiny" due to the 275 pounds he carried on his six and a half foot frame. A twenty-year NASCAR veteran, Lund died in the infield infirmary at Talladega in 1975 after his Dodge was spun into the path of rookie driver Terry Link. Presented is an enormous racing suit worn in competition by Lund not long before that fateful day in Alabama. Lund's name is embroidered at right chest, with a "Goodyear" logo over the heart and appearing again on verso. A hole at the back of the left leg may be the result of friction with the car seat. The suit is accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Donnie Allison, brother of Bobby and original member of racing's "Alabama Gang." He writes, in part, "I do attest that the following is a driver's suit that Tiny Lund personally wore during Winston Cup and Busch Series races during the 1970's." Letter of provenance from Donnie Allison.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
