Description
Circa 1888 Allen & Ginter N4 Birds of America Advertising Poster. Our national bird fittingly soars in front of a silhouette of the Capitol Building in the large portrait that joins images of the fifty cards in this tobacco set. Again, the lithography is simply phenomenal, the work of Geo. Harris & Sons, identified at lower left. It must be noted that this identification is almost lost to imperfect trimming of the lower border, which is found at top as well. Otherwise a minor corner crease at upper left remains the only noteworthy condition flaw, leaving this poster to present as one of the finest in this auction's remarkably strong offerings of contemporary tobacco posters.
