1962 Daytona 500 "Autolite Racing Award" Winner's Trophy Presented to Smokey Yunick.
An important companion to the official victor's trophy likewise presented within this auction, this model was crafted and issued by Autolite to celebrate Yunick's number 22 Pontiac that Edward "Fireball" Roberts piloted to victory at Daytona. Two victory figures hold a laurel wreath and steering wheel iconography aloft as they stand upon a wooden base affixed with an engraved plaque that reads, "1962 Autolite Racing Award to Chief Mechanic of Winning Car, NASCAR 500 Mile International Sweepstakes, Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida, February 18, 1962." Trophy stands nineteen inches in height and exhibits typical handling and storage wear but presents well. Letter of provenance from Yunick's family.
