1953 Indianapolis 500 Panoramic Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. Called the "Hottest 500" or simply "The Hot One," the temperatures (130 degrees Fahrenheit on the track) at the 1953 Indy 500 were so hot that it was said you could fry an egg on the main stretch bricks. The extreme conditions contributed to the death of driver Carl Scarborough. Bill Vukovich emerged victorious behind the wheel of his Howard Keck roadster. However, two year later Vuky would expire as well while chasing his third title at Indy.

Pay homage to the warriors of the Speedway with this panoramic image of the thirty-seventh Indy 500, issued by O'Dell & Shields Studios of Indianapolis, Indiana. "Indianapolis Motor Speedway 1953" appears at the front bottom. Two vertical creases do not really detract from the majesty of this piece and are not so evident when the panoramic is laid perfectly flat. Also, a small area of discoloration on the verso which is not consequential. Deemed a "Type 1" by the experts at PSA/DNA, this exemplar measures to approximate dimensions of 10x42.75". LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
