1949 Indianapolis 500 Panoramic Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. Car owner Lou Moore took his third straight Indy title while driver Bill Holland earned his first. The hero of the two previous incarnations, Mauri Rose, ignored orders and went rogue trying to pass Holland. The result earned him a conked-out engine for his automobile with eight laps remaining and the team boot for himself after the race. Duke Halon and his screaming Novi earned the pole position and were leading going into the twenty-fourth lap. Unfortunately, the Novi jinx was in play as Lady Luck frowned causing an axle break, crash and fire.

Tremendous panoramic image of the "33rd Annual 500 Mile Speed Classic, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, May 30th, 1949" was issued by Tower Photographers of Indianapolis, Indiana. A small area with creasing on the lower right white border does not affect this otherwise spectacular NRMT offering. Deemed a "Type 1" by the experts at PSA/DNA, this exemplar measures to approximate dimensions of 10x27". LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
