    Description

1965 Gordie Howe Game Worn Skates - Sourced from Trainer Lefty Wilson. Most famous for his scoring prowess, physical strength and career longevity, Gordie Howe bears the most important name in the sport - "Mr. Hockey." With a career resume that is off the charts, Howe appeared in 23 All-Star Games, has played in more regular season games than any other player and was the first player in history to score more than 1,000 goals. Presented here are Howe's "CCM [size] 7 1/2" skates that he wore during the Red Wings' 1965 season. Exhibiting heavy wear throughout, the dark red leather skates were originally obtained from the son of the Red Wings' longtime trainer Ross "Lefty" Wilson, and they are accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original owner who received them in 1966. An extraordinary and ultra-scarce pair, they each have "HOWE" noted on the bottoms in red Dymotape. The first pair of Howe skates we have offered, they are a superb representation from the peak of the legendary player's career. Letter of provenance from original owner. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
