Description

1911-12 C55 Imperial "Hockey Players" Fred Taylor #20 PSA NM-MT 8 - Pop Three, None Higher. Baseball fans may find an eerie resemblance in the intense gaze of Fred "Cyclone" Taylor to Ty Cobb as Taylor was called "the Ty Cobb of Hockey." In 1909, Taylor joined the Renfrew Hockey Club for a little over $5,000 for the season. Because of the "high" salaries, the fans called the team the Renfrew Millionaires. How times have changed. Taylor was an intense competitor, often at odds with team owners or referees. After his death in 1979 at 94 years of age, the Vancouver Canucks bestowed upon the team's most valuable player the "Cyclone Taylor Award." The offered C55 looks bright and problem free inside its plastic holder. The only faults are one tiny edge chip on the reverse and slight corner wear. A beautiful example from the most highly desirable hockey card production. Graded PSA NM-MT 8. One of just three graded NM-MT with none rated higher. Only 1.5% of the entire PSA population for this series grades NM-MT or better.
