Description

The sport's most beautiful garment from the team's career points leader

Circa 1960 Stan Mikita Game Worn Chicago Black Hawks Jersey.
For twenty-two seasons, this Czech-born Hall of Famer was the face of Windy City hockey, an eight-time All-Star with two Byngs, two Harts, four Ross Trophies and a 1961 Stanley Cup Championship ring. The presented gorgeous red wool garment finds the franchise leader in both games played and points scored very early in that long march to immortality, the black collar and sleeve number positioning consistent with Black Hawks imagery we find in both the 1960 and 1961 Topps Hockey sets.

You'll still find that classic Indian-head emblem on Chicago jerseys to this day, but the number "21" that appears in white tackle twill on sleeves and verso was raised to the rafters of Chicago Stadium in 1980, the season Mikita played the last of his record 1,394 games for the Black Hawks.

Marvelous game wear bears witness to Mikita's fearless playing style during those early years when he was one of the most penalized players in the league, the jersey exhibiting stick marks, board burns, inner pilling and more than a dozen team repairs. Proper "Wilson [size] 48" label appears at interior center tail. The earliest and finest Mikita gamer ever to appear on the hobby's major auction block. LOA from Spivak & Kraut. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
