A hat trick earns the younger Hull a key to the clubhouse with his dad...

1996-97 Brett Hull Game Worn St. Louis Blues Jersey Video Matched to 500th Career Goal with Hull Letter! No hockey fan in St. Louis was singing the blues on December 22, 1996, when the Golden Jet's golden son found the back of an NHL net for the 500th time, establishing the pair as the only father/son duo in league history to summit that lofty plateau. The thirty-two year old right winger broke a one-to-one tie with the visiting Los Angeles Kings late in the first period, and then quickly followed up with his second goal of the contest early in the second period. Then, midway through the third, on an assist from center Pierre Turgeon, Hull rocketed a shot past the right shoulder of Kings goalie Stephane Fiset to complete the most historic hat trick of his Hall of Fame career.

Video from the lengthy celebration that followed clearly captures the black mark to the left of the Assistant Captain's patch at upper left chest and the vertical black mark beyond the right edge of the nameplate near the intersection of the back shoulder and right sleeve seams. The garment exhibits fantastic game wear throughout, with no shortage of board burns, puck marks, sweat-staining and some minor detachment of the layers of the rear numeral. Team logo variations appear in large format on chest and in smaller format at each shoulder. Number "16" is applied to each sleeve and, in larger dimensions beneath a block-lettered "Hull," to verso.

Interior collar holds "Starter NHL" tagging and embroidered "B. Hull" swatch. Interior rear center tail is screened, "Official St. Louis Blues, 1st Set, 1996-97 season," with a number "12" handwritten on the logo. Fight strap is clipped at the base. It's a picture-perfect specimen, a compelling witness to the hard-nosed style of play that made Hull a fan favorite and a Hall of Fame immortal. Letter of provenance from Brett Hull. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
