"The Messiah" ends a fifty-four year Stanley Cup drought!

1993-94 Mark Messier Game Worn New York Rangers Jersey. It's been compared to Joe Namath's bold Super Bowl III prediction, and to Babe Ruth's apocryphal "Called Shot." Down three games to two against a fierce New Jersey Devils team in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Rangers captain assured the New York media of a Game Six victory. And like the Big Apple sports legends that preceded him, Messier made good on his prophecy, rebounding from a two-goal deficit with a hat trick to force a Game Seven, which would send the Rangers to the Stanley Cup Finals with a sudden death game-winner in double overtime.

The Finals against the Vancouver Canucks would likewise require the full seven games to determine the victor, and it was Messier himself who netted what would prove to be the game-winner in the three goals to two result. The video of the Rangers captain leaping for joy as the clock struck zero remains one of the most iconic scenes in franchise history.

This blue mesh roadster was worn by the legendary Hall of Famer on the final leg of a fifty-four year journey back to Lord Stanley's promised land. Evidence of the Moose's aggressive playing style is apparent in slash marks on the chest, unrepaired holes on the sleeves and general, sweaty wear that has softened the identifiers and tagging. "Rangers" is applied to chest in classic stair-step red and white tackle twill block lettering, with the "C" at upper left reminding us that Messier is the only player in NHL history to captain two different teams to Stanley Cup glory. Number "11" appears at each shoulder and on reverse, where it appears beneath a gently arching "Messier."

Interior collar bears proper "Gerry Cosby" manufacturer's tagging with dry cleaning and size "52" tags just below. A secondary Cosby label at the top of the interior fight strap is a single-year style that allows expert Joe Tomon to pinpoint this most delectable Rangers vintage. It's arguably the most desirable jersey ever to surface from the storied career of this first-ballot Hall of Famer. LOA from Joe Tomon. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
