Description

1974 Henri Richard NHL East All-Star Game Worn Jersey with Player Letter. Important garment checks all of the boxes for desirability--Hall of Fame heritage, top-tier aesthetics, direct player provenance and a perfect photo match. The orange durene beauty was worn by The Pocket-Rocket on January 29, 1974 at Chicago Stadium on the ice with such fellow legends as Denis Potvin, Phil Esposito, Yvan Cournoyer and Frank Mahovlich. The East would take a quick two-goal lead on goals by Mahovlich and Cournoyer before allowing five unanswered scores this day, ultimately coming in on the losing side of a six to four final. Richard would be held scoreless during the sport's most celebrated exhibition, but the 1973-74 season was a significant one for the veteran Canadien, who had recorded his 1000th career point just a month earlier.

Five NHL crests adorn the jersey, gradually decreasing in size from the center, to the upper chest, and finally to the shoulders. White and black stars spangle the waist area, in celebration of the occasion. Verso reports "Richard 16" in black and white tackle twill. Interior collar holds proper "Gerry Cosby [size] 48" labeling. Game wear is surprisingly strong for a single, friendly contest, with a couple small holes on front and what appears to be a board burn nearby one of them.

Ironclad provenance is assured by a pair of included items--a 2001 letter of provenance signed by Richard himself, and a large (framed to 14x18") photograph of the Eastern Division team that pictures Richard wearing the jersey, seated third from left. Letter of provenance from Henri Richard. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
