Description

1930 Testimonial Dinner Program Signed by Fifty-Two Attendees Including Lester Patrick. This beautifully lithographed dinner program has been signed by numerous attendees, including several prominent athletes. An early hockey signature of legend Lester Patrick is the top highlight on this piece, rating a solid 10/10. Pre-1940's basketball memorabilia is quite rare, and this program leads off with a Ned Irish signature (10/10) in the first spot. Irish was a prominent proponent of professional basketball and later served as President of the New York Knicks from 1946-74. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1964. Boxers on the program include Jack Dempsey, Primo Carnera and Maxie Rosenbloom. Early professional football players include Benny Friedman and William "Pudge" Heffelfinger, the first paid professional player. Actor/director William S. Hart, New York City Mayor James J. Walker, Boston Mayor John F. Fitzgerald and newspaper columnist/radio commentator Walter Winchell are also found on this historic piece. Some creases are evident, and the tassel has been partially cut off, but the autograph pages would look beautiful matted up on their own. Most autographs average 9-10/10 with only a few lesser. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
