Hollywood grabs hold of the greatest sports story in American history

2004 "Miracle" Screen Worn Jerseys (7) & Jacket. Offered here are eight pieces of wardrobe from the feature film "Miracle," which chronicled the historic upset by the 1980 US Olympic hockey team, led by captain Mike Eruzione, over the mighty Soviet Union squad. Leading the lot is a blue USA #21 jersey sporting the captain's "C" worn by actor Patrick Dempsey, who played team captain Mike Eruzione. Also featured in the lot is a white USA #30 jersey worn by either actor Eddie Cahill, who currently stars in "CSI New York," or by his stunt double, retired NHL goalie Bill Ranford. Both portrayed USA goalie Jim Craig, giving this lot a jersey from both hockey players with feature roles in "Miracle," which hit movie theaters in February, 2004. Since Cahill was the only actor on the USA hockey team with no previous ice hockey background prior to filming, he was also the only USA player that utilized a stunt double for some of the hockey scenes.

A second white USA #10 jersey is included that was worn by Eric Peter-Kaiser, who played US scoring star Mark Johnson. After scoring two goals in the historic 4-3 upset against the Soviets in Lake Placid, Johnson went on to play eleven seasons in the NHL. The two red CCCP jerseys included in the lot were worn by players portraying Russian icons Valeri Kharlamov and Slava Fetisov, both members of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Because the USA white jerseys and the Russian jerseys were worn in the multiple scenes portraying the memorable US upset over the Soviets, these jerseys exhibit the most visible wear of any of the jerseys made for the movie. In addition, multiple sets of jerseys were made for many of the teams in the movie, which is a standard practice for any wardrobe in a feature film.

Three additional pieces complete this "Miracle" lot. First is a jersey worn by an actor that played Finland captain Jukka Porvari. Finland was the United States' final opponent in the 1980 Olympics, and the Americans were awarded their Gold Medals on the ice immediately following the Finland game. The grey #25 Porvari jersey also features the captain's "C ". Also included is a blue USA #9 jersey worn by Trevor Alto, who played future NHL star Neal Broten. This jersey was worn in the pre-tournament games in the movie. Finally, a red lined CCCP jacket worn in an Olympic village scene by Paul Grech, who played one of the Russian players, rounds out this lot. Individual LOA's for each item.

*A donation of $100 to the American Red Cross is required to attend the Live auction.
