1999 Wayne Gretzky "4/18/99" Game Used, Signed Hockey Stick From Last Career Game. Nicknamed "The Great One," Wayne Gretzky has been called "the greatest player in the history of the game," by countless sports writers, hockey experts and fans throughout the world. As far as memorabilia collectors are concerned, Gretzky game-used pieces are some of the most sought after pieces in the hobby, and the current listing may be the most historic of them all.

On April 18, 1999, Wayne Gretzky took the ice for the final time in his illustrious professional career. The game was played by Gretzky's New York Rangers against the Pittsburgh Penguins, in front of a Madison Square Garden crowd. Although the game involved two American teams, both national anthems were played, and with the lyrics slightly revised to accommodate Gretzky's departure. One of the most memorable events in NHL history, Gretzky ended his career with a final point, assisting on the lone Rangers goal scored by Brian Leetch.

Offered here is one of multiple hockey sticks that The Great One used during his final game, and it is signed and inscribed in Mint blue sharpie "4/18/99" by the sports icon. As similar to other final game Gretzky sticks that have appear in the hobby, it has "1487" on the end of the knob, which notes how many games he played in his career. The proper "Jack the Gripper" handle is intact, while "Gretzky" is stamped twice on the shaft. His original black tape is on the blade, and light wear is exhibited throughout.

An unquestionable Hall of Fame-caliber piece, the phenomenal artifact would stand out in the most prestigious of memorabilia displays. LOA from John Balawejder/Double Deke Hockey. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
