1933 V288 Hamilton Gum Howie Morenz #8 SGC 70 EX+ 5.5 - Pop One, One Higher. O-Pee-Chee dominated the hockey card market in the 1930's but some competition came from Hamilton Chewing Gum from Hamilton Ontario who produced the now scarce V288 series under their "Puck Gum" brand of bubble gum. The scarce series is skip-numbered to 49 but only 21 cards were ever produced. Card #8 features hockey legend Howie Morenz and he is the undisputed key. This card is a stunner. The front is as high quality as you could hope for. The corners reveal only hints of wear at the outer tips. There are small areas of surface roughness near the corners on the reverse which seems to be all that accounts for the SGC assessment. Graded SGC 70 EX+ 5.5. From a total population of only fourteen, this is the only example at the EX+ level with just one graded higher.Auction Info
