Description
2005 Upper Deck SP Authentic Alexander Ovechkin (Futurewatch Autographed Patch-Limited) Rookie #190 BGS Mint 9, Auto 9 - #'d 10/100. Since being the 1st overall pick of the 2004 NHL Draft, Ovechkin has become the greatest modern goal scorer the league has seen. The Great Eight has won the the Maurice Richard Trophy a record 9 times, given annually to the NHL's leading goal scorer. Just recently he passed Jaromir Jagr for third all-time in goals scored and if his pace keeps up after next year could pass Gordie Howe for second. During his rookie year, he scored one of the greatest goals in history on January 16, 2006, dubbed "The Goal", Ovie went sliding on his back and with one hand somehow used his stick to hook the puck past goalie Brian Boucher. Later in his rookie year, he would win the Calder Trophy as the rookie of the year and be a named to the First All-Star Team.For all of his goal scoring prowess, Ovechkin could never get over the hump of winning a Stanley Cup. This was true until the 2017-18 season, where he would lead the Capitals to the Stanley Cup over the Vegas Golden Knights and would win the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP of the playoffs. Ovechkin has laid claim to an Art Ross Trophy, three Hart Memorial Trophies, three Ted Lindsay Awards, a 7x First All-Star Teamer and 12x All-Star. A sure-fire Hall of Famer, Ovie now having his Stanley Cup, is chasing records including during the 2021-22 season becoming the all-time power play goal scorer and looking to topple Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals scored record.
