1970's Arnold Palmer Match Worn & Signed Golf Shoes. Update: A full LOA from SGC Authentic is included with this lot.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. That adage couldn't be more true than when our consignor encountered Arnold Palmer at the Latrobe Country Club in the early 1990's - his home course. The locker room attendant noticed Palmer was getting ready to discard a number of his old golf cleats into the garbage. The worker, noticing the size of cleats matched that of his father, politely asked if he could take them for dear old dad. Ever gracious, Palmer obliged and these were saved for future generations to enjoy.

Now we get to the autograph. Since at least one of the pairs of match-worn golf shoes was white, our consignor asked Palmer if he could sign them as they were to be worn for cutting grass. Again, Palmer came through in the clutch and signed them. These "Aristocrat size 11" white leather cleats went from Palmer's locker into our consignor's collection, where they have remained until now. Both show good overall wear from trips to the links. The following are screen printed inside: "11 C/A75688 27-2140 109N." Leather orthopedic cushioning is fitted into the back end of each for added comfort. The Aristocrat emblem is nearly gone from use. Palmer signed the tips of both in 8/10 black felt tip. One is personalized. Photos of our consignor with the shoes and the entire story is available on-line. Letter of provenance from consignor. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA for each shoe. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
