1952 Masters Championship Trophy Won by Sam Snead. The most prolific winner in PGA Tour history was a three-time winner at this fabled Georgia tournament, earning one of these gorgeous Championship trophies for each of those wins. Heritage has enjoyed the privilege of offering the 1949 and 1954 models in past auctions, where the winning bids tallied $143,400 and $191,200 respectively. Here we present the last available Masters Trophy from The Sam Snead Collection.

Like the 1954 edition that is recalled as one of the greatest in tournament history, Snead and his esteemed rival Ben Hogan had built a comfortable margin over the rest of the field entering the fourth and final round, deadlocked at 214. But while Slammin' Sammy maintained his composure under the sport's brightest spotlight to shoot an even par, Hogan was uncharacteristically wild through the last eighteen, shooting seven over to finish in a tie for seventh. Jack Burke's late surge was good enough for second place, four shots back of the Champion, who was once again dressed in the Green Jacket at the Augusta clubhouse.

This exacting miniature replica of that building dates to decades later, as the trophies did not exist at the time of Snead's wins and were thus presented retroactively to past champions. The distinctive design of the trophy is an intriguing departure from the standard loving cup format so common in sporting awards, arguably the most visually captivating of the contents of Snead's bulging trophy case. The structure rests atop a sterling silver disk measuring approximately thirteen inches in diameter and set upon a polished wooden base that expands the dimensions slightly. On the edge of the polished silver disk is engraved the text, "Masters Tournament, Augusta National Golf Club, 1952 Sam Snead 286." Fine condition. Letter of provenance from Jack Snead.
