Description
Ruger Single Shot .25-06 Rifle With Telescopic Sight From The Sam Snead Collection. Serial no. 130-06832, .25-06 caliber, 26-inch barrel. Blued finish. Left side of receiver reading: "ONE SHOT/ANTELOPE HUNT/LANDER, WYOMING." Right side of receiver reading: "SAMUEL J. SNEAD/1967 PAST SHOOTERS/MEMORIAL TEAM/CAPTAIN--1967" and numbered "0015." Each side is accented in gold gilt. Checkered walnut pistolgrip stock and fore-end mounted swivel sling mounts and suede shoulder sling. Factory rubber recoil pad. Mounted Redfield 2X-7X telescopic sight. Condition is very good, retaining approximately 95-98% bluing with some light signs of handling wear and very fine patches of pitting. Wood showing a few light scuffs and scratches. Action crisp. Mirror bright bore. Optics clear. Also included is an assortment of related material including four photographs of Snead, one holding this weapon and three wearing the red hunting cap likewise included. One of the photos is framed with a certificate from the 1967 hunt in Wyoming during which the weapon and cap were used. Finally, a slightly damaged and repaired ceramic elk head that was a souvenir of the Wyoming hunting expedition. Letter of provenance from Jack Snead.Auction Info
