Gutta Percha Golf Ball Gifted To Sam Snead By Duke Of Windsor - With Letter From Sam Snead. Sam Snead's signed letter from 1996 describes this ball as a gift from the Duke of Windsor in the early 1950's. He writes, "We became good friends and played a lot of golf together on the Old White course. On one of these visits, they gave me this ball and explained that it had come from "Old Tom Morris's club shop on the 18th hole at St. Andrews." The old gutta percha ball itself is black in color and has lost its shape but has a great story! This smooth format of the gutta percha is the rarest and most desirable. Letter of provenance from Sam Snead. Letter of provenance from Jack Snead.
