Description
Circa 2004 Tiger Woods Tournament Worn & Signed Cap. Perhaps the most dominant professional athlete in his chosen field of endeavor active today, the young links legend is almost certainly the most skilled and powerful golfer ever to lay club to ball. This elite status is only half of the equation that makes his memorabilia so valuable and desirable, however. It is well known that Tiger keeps a very tight rein on such collectibles, signing only on rare occasion and releasing game material to the public with such infrequency that one can go many months without encountering a single genuine specimen. So thousands of collectors will celebrate the auction appearance of this navy Nike cap, exhibiting tremendous sweat-stained wear at the crown and the 10/10 silver sharpie signature of its former owner. Both the use and the signature come to us bearing the most ideal provenance possible, in the form of Upper Deck certification, complete with matching serialized holographic authenticating stickers. Check out the footage of tournaments between 2003 and 2005 and you'll find Tiger sporting this cap on several occasions, and the unique sweat patterns could make an exact match possible. We believe we've found it with the photo supplied, though obviously this couldn't be stated definitively as surely Tiger continued to sweat after the photo was snapped, altering the pattern of staining with each passing minute. Marks underneath the visor are the obvious result of Tiger tipping his cap to the gallery, a further assurance of tournament use. Clearly one of the most exciting Woods offerings of the season, for the serious collector of modern golf artifacts. LOA from Upper Deck. LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph). Guide Value or Estimate: $8,000 - $12,000.
