Description

1950 Western Open Championship Gold Medal Won by Sam Snead. The 1949 Western Open Champion successfully defended his title at Los Angeles' Brentwood Country Club in 1950, joining Willie Anderson, Jim Barnes, Walter Hagen and Ralph Guldahl as the only men to accomplish the feat (Billy Casper and Jack Nicklaus would repeat as Western Open Champions in subsequent years). Presented is Snead's gold medal for repeating as Western Open Champion, his fifty-fifth of eighty-two career PGA Tour wins.

Obverse features the crest of the Western Golf Association with raised text at perimeter announcing, "Western Golf Association Open Championship." Engraved on verso is "Open Champion 1950 Sam Snead." Gold content of "14K" is stamped at lower edge. Fine condition. Diameter 1.25" not including loop on top. Letter of provenance from Jack Snead.
