Description1950 Masters Tournament Third Place Bronze Medal Won by Sam Snead. He was the defending Masters Champion when he returned to the verdant greens and fairways of Augusta, but the great Sam Snead was bested by American Jimmy Demaret and Australian Jim Ferrier at the close of four rounds in 1950, earning $1,020 for his one under-par 287. Fellow links legends Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan trailed just a stroke behind at even par, the latter playing in his first Major since his near-fatal automobile accident in 1949.
Presented is the official hardware issued to Snead for his third place finish at the 1950 Masters, a hefty bronze medal measuring three inches in diameter and a quarter inch thick. Obverse bears the logo of the Augusta National Golf Club set at center of a ring of eighteen pin flags, while verso features a relief image of the famous course clubhouse and the words, "Masters Tournament, Sam Snead, 1950." Fine condition. Letter of provenance from Jack Snead.
