1949 Ryder Cup Matches Presentation Case from The Sam Snead Collection. In the first Ryder Cup Match post World War II conducted in the UK, Ganton Golf Club in Scarborough, England was chosen as the host site. Ben Hogan captained the US team to a 7-5 victory. This gorgeous Sterling silver case measures 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 1 1/2" and is inscribed as follows: "From C. H. Ward (A British team player) To Sam Snead As A Token Of Friendship and Esteem." A further inscription is written across the top of the box reading "Ryder Cup Matches Ganton Golf Club England 16th & 17th September 1949". The interior of the box houses thin wood paneling. Properly hallmarked, the box shows lots of personal use--a beautiful Ryder Cup item. Letter of provenance from Jack Snead.
