Description

1946 The Masters Player's Gift Plate Presented to Lloyd Mangrum. Believed by many advanced collectors to be the very first player's gift issued by the famed Augusta, Georgia tournament, the offered plate derives from the estate of Golf Hall of Famer Lloyd Mangrum, who would win the US Open the same year. The plate measures eight inches in diameter and is constructed of sterling silver with a glass inlay. Mangrum's name is engraved at the bottom edge of the plate, and a thin crack spans the diameter of the "Masters Tournament 1946" glass inlay vertically from the top. A rare and important artifact from one of the greatest names in mid-century golf.
