Description
1940 Jim Barnes PGA World Golf Hall Of Fame Ring. The predecessor to today's World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, Florida, was the PGA World Golf Hall of Fame, which inducted its first class in 1940. And, of course, Jim Barnes was in that class as the winner of the very first PGA Championship in 1916 and the winner of the next PGA Championship in 1919, with the two year hiatus for World War I. Barnes captured two other major championship titles among his total of twenty-one PGA Tour wins. One of Barnes's prized possessions was this ring given to him as an inductee into the first class at the Hall of Fame. The top of the ring features a surround of a garland wreath, two crossed golf clubs, large PGA letters and a small center real diamond. "World Golf Hall of Fame" is clearly engraved on each shank and interior band is engraved "Jim Barnes." Size nine. Ten karat gold. Letter of provenance from Barnes family.
