1925 British Open Championship Commemorative Silver Tray Presented to Jim Barnes. Jim Barnes was born in 1886 in the town of Lelant in County Cornwall in England. He worked as a caddie and club-maker's apprentice and was an assistant professional at West Cornwall from 1902-1906 when he emigrated to the United States. He never forgot his roots and would return to play in The Open Championship numerous times and winning at Prestwick in 1925.

The West Cornwall Golf Club honored their native son with this gorgeous sterling silver salver with an inscription reading "Presented By The West Cornwall Golf Club to J. Barnes to Commemorate His Winning The Open Championship 1925." This beautiful tray is properly hallmarked and measures 10" in diameter. Hallmarked "Walker & Marshall, Sheffield" on verso. Fine condition. Letter of provenance from Barnes family.
