    Description

1896 Royal Burgess Golfing Society Medal And Ribbon. The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh, Scotland, began play on their Wille Park, Jr. course in 1895. In just the second year of golf play, on offer here is an outstanding medal from the late 19th century. The medal itself measures 2 1/4 X 2 3/4 and has a unique design with the (then) Edinburgh Burgess Golfing Society writing around a shield and a smaller shield with a "Far And Sure" moniker. The rear of the large shield states "Won by James Clark At Barnton 15 October 1896." The still bright red original ribbon stretches to a total length of two feet and this entire medal and ribbon come in the original jewelers box.
