    Description

    Rare, early 19th-century silver golfing medal with sunray border. Engraved "The Independent Caledonian Golf Club - instituted 1810." Also engraved on the back of this interesting collectible are the winners' names from 1811 (H. D. Inglis), 1812 (H. D. Inglis) and 1813 (D. Wylie). This particular medal is one of the earliest, if not the earliest, golfing medal ever to come to public auction. There is additional information from an unidentified previous auction accompanying the piece. Note: Based on the accompanying information, Heritage has been informed that the auction is Phillips, January 1994. 1 3/4"h.
