Description

1958 Doug Sanders Western Open Winner's Gold Medal. It was Sanders' second PGA Tour victory and his first as a professional, as his Canadian Open win two years earlier had been as an amateur. The understated design features a golden disk measuring approximately 1.25" in diameter with a figural golfer (repaired), a small pearl for a golf ball, an inset gemstone at the six o'clock position, and engraving announcing the tournament: "Western Open, June 1958." Verso is not engraved. Despite the humble appearance of the winner's trinket, this first professional Tour victory medal was likely Sanders' most cherished. Family letter of provenance.
