1927 Ryder Cup PGA Reception Committee Badge - Inaugural Match In Historic Golf Series. One of the most prestigious events in golf, the Ryder Cup is contested every two years between the United States and Europe's best players. Originally played between Great Britain and the U.S., the first official Ryder Cup took place in 1927 at Worcester Country Club, in Massachusetts.

According to our memorabilia database records, this is the first piece ever offered at auction from the first ever Ryder Cup, and it was once owned by corrupt New York City mayor Jimmy Walker. A gorgeous original committee badge from the P.G.A.'s '27 Ryder Cup team reception, the 5.5" artifact showcases gorgeous gold-toned trim, with a pair of hands shaking at top and U.S. and Great Britain flags presented at the center. Exhibiting moderate fraying and a few tears in the ribbon, most notably above the gold print, it still has its original "Whitehead & Hoag" tag on the back. A treasure that should be considered a most impressive target among the cultured collector who focuses on the most significant and eye appealing items in the hobby.
