1970's-90's Sam Snead Signed Personal Checks Lot of 3,545. The presented lot represents over 99.5% of the full known population of Sam Snead checks, allowing one winning bidder to take complete control of this popular collecting subgenre for one of the twentieth century's greatest sportsmen. Snead's son Jack reports that his father rarely threw anything away, and this massive assembly serves as evidence supporting that assertion, documenting nearly every expenditure made by the iconic golfer over a period of nearly two decades. All checks are filled out and signed entirely in Sam Snead's hand, with the majority bearing the full "Samuel J. Snead" autograph format we can't recall ever having seen anywhere else. Condition is strong throughout, though of course there are scattered creases and edge wear on a small percentage. Ink boldness is consistently 9/10 or better. There are no sales records available for Snead checks, but if we equate them with those of Ben Hogan (who typically commands $150 for a check) the aggregate value of the lot soars high into six-figure territory.
