Description
1963 Bobby Jones Three-Page Handwritten & Signed Contract for His Personal Secretary. Another important lot consigned to this auction that derives from the estate of Jones' personal secretary Jean Marshall. The offering is comprised of three handwritten pages on legal sized (8.5x13") lined paper drawing the guidelines for Ms. Marshall's employment. Even in this legal format, Jones' grace and fine character shines through, as he goes out of his way to compliment Ms. Marshall's past service while he delineates the terms for the future. We can see the early effects of Jones' degenerative disease in the somewhat shaky handwriting, but all ink remains as bold as the date of application, including the closing "Robert T. Jones, Jr." signature. Pages exhibit original storage folds and are held together by a staple at upper left, otherwise no problems of note. Letter of provenance from Jean Marshall family.
