    Description

Smooth face "lofter" with slight concave to face manufactured by John Gray of Prestwick, Scotland. Impressed into the back of the head is the well-known "John Gray" stamp. The patina is excellent, the head large and well shaped, and the nicking is long and slender. The russet grip and hickory shaft may be in-period replacements and there is a small rock dent on the back of the hosel, otherwise the condition is outstanding. Circa 1865. Head 4 5/8" x 2"; hosel 4 3/4"h. A very nice example.
