    Description

    A. Simpson long nose play club probably manufactured by Archie Simpson in Carnoustie, Scotland. This interesting collectible has the block printed "A. Simpson" stamp on the head, oval back weight, three-dowel horn sole, scared neck, hickory shaft and unusual cork grip. The shaft may be an in-period replacement; the neck whipping appears to be a later replacement. The original stain and finish have been lightened and the old cork grip shows wear. Circa 1886. Head 5 1/8" from toe to heel; 1 1/4" face; 43" shaft. Good.
