Circa 1931 Billy Burke Signed Photograph. In 1931, with Bobby Jones retired and not defending his title (and the Grand Slam), the field for the US Open was wide open and Billy Burke won in a playoff against heralded amateur turned pro George Von Elm. This item is an original 8 X 10 photo with a dapper Burke, clubs in tow, and a sporty new automobile. The playoff for the 1931 US Open was a two-day 36 hole marathon! The inscribed image has a perfect 10/10 autograph, and the photo itself has just slight wear at the borders, leaving the image area problem-free. LOA from Mark Emerson. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
