    Description

Circa 1930 Bobby Jones Signed Photograph. It's one of the finest Jones signed photographs we've encountered, arguably his most recognizable portrait, snapped at the height of the legendary linksman's powers around the time he claimed the fabled Grand Slam of 1930. While any signed image from this period is highly coveted, particularly since his handwriting started to falter in his later years, this specific example distinguishes itself for the rare "Bobby Jones" autograph format that follows a standard personalization of, "To Russell Ireland, With best wishes." Veteran collectors are well aware that Jones almost never signed with the name by which he is most commonly identified, the vast majority instead autographed, "Robert T. Jones, Jr." The 7.5x9.5" image presents marvelously in its original period frame, and Jones' black fountain pen ink rates 9/10. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
