    Description

Circa 1930 Bobby Jones Signed Colorized Photograph.
One of the true sportsmen of the twentieth century, Jones famously dismissed accolades for calling a penalty stroke upon himself at a crucial juncture of a match with the statement, "You may as well praise a man for not robbing a bank." For Jones, there was no struggle between right and wrong. Wrong never stood a chance. Golf journalist Herbert Warren Wind put it best when he wrote, "In the opinion of many people, of all the great athletes, Jones came the closest to being what we call a great man."

Here we find a glorious color image of the handsome links legend bearing the stamped hallmark at lower right of Elmer Fryer, iconic Hollywood photographer. Jones provides a lengthy inscription at center right, his 7/10 black fountain pen ink reading, "To Tom Paine, With affectionate regards and fond remembrance of many good times together, Sincerely, Bob Jones."

The photo measures 14x10" and presents flawlessly, matted and framed to a museum-quality 23x20". Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
