    Description

Circa 1910 James Braid Signed Cabinet Photograph. With JH Taylor and Harry Vardon, James Braid formed "the Great Triumvirate" around the turn of the 20th century. The trio dominated the Open Championship with Braid notching five titles in the decade 1901-1910. Following his competitive career, Braid was the host pro at Walton Heath, just outside London, and this item is a beautiful photo of Braid in full swing with the Walton Heath clubhouse as the backdrop. This original studio photo, about 4 X 6, sits on the original mount of Russell's of Chichester. Braid's bold fountain pen autograph is written in his customary style of "Jas Braid," and rates 9+/10. Some very minor wear (apparent tape removal) to the top edge of the mount, but otherwise NRMT. LOA from Mark Emerson. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
