    Description

1990's Golf Legends Signed Golf Balls, Letters Collection. Sticklers for strong provenance will love this assortment of autographs from the links' finest, as documentation comes "straight from the horse's mouth," so to speak. A quartet of golf balls signed by Ben Hogan (two rate 8/10, the others 3/10) are joined by a typed letter, signed "Ben," that reads in part, "I have returned the golf balls to you. THe balls are so hard to write on that I am afraid that I didn't do a very good job..." A pair of signed balls from Byron Nelson (5/10 and 7/10) are likewise joined by a typed letter (signed "Byron") to the same collector, though here the signed balls are not directly addressed. A second handwritten note (also signed "Byron") thanks the collector for a gift, and notes that "I sent the other material to Hogan." We assume he is referring in part to an 8x10" photo presented here, signed in 9+/10 black ink by each of them. Finally, we have a pair of golf balls signed by Charlie Yates (both 9/10). LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
