1953 Dwight D. Eisenhower Signed Letter to Gene Sarazen. There was perhaps no one more instrumental in bringing the sport of golf to the masses than President Eisenhower, whose love for the game inspired many thousands of Americans to head to the links. As such, this letter sent to golf icon Gene Sarazen carries no shortage of historical weight for the collector/scholar. Ike thanks Sarazen for a gift, writing, in part, "Your generosity keeps me decidedly busy playing around with new golf clubs--and a very pleasant business it is." The brief typed note on White House stationery is signed at the close in 10/10 black fountain pen ink, and the page is perfect but for original mailing folds. Also included is a sterling presentational platter given to Sarazen by Shell petroleum upon his retirement from the "Shell's Wonderful World of Golf" program, in EX-MT condition, 14.5" diameter. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
