Description

1930 Bobby Jones Signed Currier & Ives Print. Simply glorious artifact evokes the unparalleled dignity of the man remembered almost as much for his nobility as for his world-beating skill on the links. With an artistry instantly recognizable as that of Currier & Ives, the print captures Jones holing his final putt to claim the 1927 British Open at St. Andrews. Small text indicates that this is "The first edition of 999 prints published and copyrighted by Currier & Ives, Inc., 1930," but the scarcity is increased exponentially by the appearance at lower right of a flawlessly bold 10/10 black fountain pen inscription that reads, "For Arnold Mitchell with best regards, Bob Jones." Like the autograph, the print itself survives in unimprovable condition, and is elegantly matted and framed to final dimensions of 25x30". Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Third party shipping required.
