Description

1930 "Bobby Jones On Golf" Signed by Bobby Jones. Hardcover publication dates to the year of Jones' fabled Grand Slam, considered by many to be the greatest achievement in the history of the sport. More than eight decades later, the book is still considered essential reading by golf enthusiasts, though original printings are rarely encountered. This particular example is hampered by water staining and warping, though this condition problem remains mercifully clear of the "Ex Libris" bookplate affixed to the title page, autographed by Jones in 9/10 black fountain pen ink. It is important to stress that this circa 1930 autograph format is far more desirable than the more common representations dating from later in Jones' life, as his illness altered his handwriting. The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
