1924 James Braid Signed Letter with Fantastic Content! A five-time winner of the British Open (called "The Open Championship" in his day), Braid represented one third of "The Great Triumvirate," a trio of turn-of-the-century United Kingdom links legends including J.H. Taylor and Harry Vardon. Braid turned to golf course design in his later years, with his most noteworthy work the remodeling of the Carnoustie course, not far from the famous St. Andrews links. Here he provides general landscaping advice and a hole-by-hole list of recommendations for the Brora Golf Club on the Scottish coast. The two typed pages on legal-sized stock features a couple of handwritten edits and a 9/10 closing "Jas Braid" autograph. Each page of onion skin paper exhibits original fold lines, general edge wear, punch holes at left edge and paper clip rust stains, but none of this affects the type or signature in any negative way. A particularly appealing find from one of the early legends of the sport. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
