Description

1915 "The Winning Shot" by Jerome D. Travers and Grantland Rice Signed Book. This first edition book is dedicated to Pulitzer recipient and newspaper luminary Herb Swope and signed by Travers and Rice. Jerome Travers was considered the first great American golfer and captured the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1907, 1908, 1912 and 1913. In 1915 Travers won the U.S. Open at Baltusrol Golf Club, making him the second of the five amateurs to win the event. Strong vintage black fountain pen signatures grace an inside cover page. There is some mild staining to first few inside pages and some separation of binding at inside of back cover. JSA Auction LOA.
