Description

1934 Augusta National Stock Certificate From The First Year of The Masters - Only Known Example! In 1934, the Augusta National Golf Club hosted the inaugural Augusta National Invitation Tournament, which later became known as the Masters Tournament. Founded by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts, the club is renowned for its beautiful and challenging course, designed by Jones and Alister MacKenzie. The tournament quickly gained prestige in the golfing world, attracting top players. Augusta National's lush fairways, iconic azaleas, and strict membership policies have made it an exclusive and revered institution in golf. Its stock has never been publicly traded, maintaining its private status and enhancing its mystique and allure in the sports world.

Only few relics have survived from the earliest of days at Augusta. In May of 2012, Heritage Auctions sold a ticket/badge from the inaugural event for the pricey sum of $35,850. Runner-up Craig Wood's sterling silver medal realized $26,290 months later. This stock certificate (number 111) from Augusta National Golf Club was issued to "William Leonard Shearer Jr." in May of 1934. There are fold marks on the offering. An image of the course is featured in the middle adding a dose of aesthetics. Approximately 10x8" is showing with total dimensions of 15x14." This is the first stock certificate from golf's most famous venue we have encountered.
