2011 Ben Roethlisberger Game Worn & Signed Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey with 9/11 Ten Year Anniversary Patch--NFL Auctions & Photo Matched! Collectors of modern game used gridiron gear are well aware that the Steelers keep their material tightly under wraps, so their jerseys rank among the toughest of all NFL franchises. Typically the few items that break this tradition have entered the market through NFL Auctions, and such is the case with the listed black mesh beauty from Big Ben. We suspect that the jersey's derivation from a game played on the tenth anniversary of the terror attacks of 9/11 played some role in the decision to send it to auction, and the special patch affixed to upper right chest in memorial of those thousands of lost lives establishes this as a particularly unique and desirable representation.

The Steelers would finish this year at an impressive 12-4 record, but this season opener was a somewhat of a debacle, the Ravens running roughshod over the visitors to a 35-7 blowout. Roethlisberger would go 22 for 41 with 280 yards and a touchdown, but throw three picks and lose two fumbles, proving even future Hall of Famers are not immune to the fickle hands of football fate.

The jersey exhibits solid wear from that tough day in Baltimore, with various hit marks apparent on front and verso. Number "7" is applied in white tackle twill to chest, shoulders and back, where "Roethlisberger" stands in three-inch yellow block lettering. Team logo patch sits opposite the 9/11 patch at upper chest. Interior collar holds "11-50" swatch beside the NFL Authentic serialized sticker. Tail is elasticized just below an interior "100% Nylon, Berlin, WI" flap tag at interior. Rear numeral is autographed in 9/10 black sharpie. Getty Images has a ton of photos of Roethlisberger in this game, and #125045820 is a good one to spot the loose threads on the name on back. LOA from NFL Auctions (N77600). LOA from Heritage Auctions. Photo matched. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from Sports Investors Authentication.
