Description

2001 James Harrison Game Worn Kent State Golden Flashes Helmet from The James Harrison Collection. The Pittsburgh Steelers have hit the jackpot with Kent State linebackers. First it was lanky Jack Lambert who rose to prominence with the Golden Flashes. Lambert's journey to Canton began at Kent State, and he was drafted in the second round of the legendary 1974 Steeler draft.

James Harrison's rise to the NFL was much more unique as he went undrafted, was a special teams player for a year who also played in NFL Europe. The offered helmet is the earliest from Harrison's impressive collection. Numerous Kent State decals adorn the reverse of the midnight navy shell. These special decals were handed out for making an impactful play. The reverse has an NCAA sticker, American flag, "16" and transparent warning sticker. Numerous gouges and contact marks appear on the front. The inside includes these noteworthy inclusions: "16" in white paint pen, "Harrison" and a 2001 recondition sticker over another sticker. The original cupped chinstrap also shows adequate wear. Letter of provenance from James Harrison. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
