1996 Bruce Smith Game Worn, Unwashed & Signed Buffalo Bills Jersey with Equipment Manager Provenance - 7 Team Repairs from NFL Defensive Player of the Year Season & Photo Matched to 12/28 Playoff Game! The Hall of Fame defensive end donned this Champion road blue high sheened micromesh jersey with dazzle cloth shoulders, and Spandex side panels during the 1996 season, when he was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. "78" appears on the front, back, and sleeves with "Smith" on the verso nameplate, all screened-on in red and white heat transfers. Red and white trim decorates the ribbed knit v-neck collar and sleeve cuffs, and the NFL and two Champion patches are all present. The verso "7" is signed and inscribed "Bruce Smith #78," large and bold, in 8/10 vintage black sharpie.What makes this unwashed exemplar truly fantastic are the customizations and multi-game wear. Tailored to the exacting specifications of Bruce Smith, we see customizations to the shoulders, sleeves (with taped-up left sleeve cuff), side panels, and tail (hence the absence of any tagging). The game wear is equally outstanding and includes an array of hit marks, turf burns, field transfers, paint transfers (black, green, and aqua) to the sleeve numbers and back name, and at least seven team-executed repairs ranging between one and six inches in length.
John Robinson has conclusively photo matched this jersey to the 12/28 playoff contest versus the Jaguars and his findings are included with this offering.
Bruce Smith's football resume is jaw dropping: Eleven Pro Bowl selections, four AFC Defensive Player of the Year nods, two NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, election to the 80's and 90's All-Decade Teams and 100th Anniversary All-Time Team, plus residency in both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
